American Intrapolitics: Internecine strife

I really like that word. "Internecine."

Progressive bloggers are annoyed because Adam Nagourney's recent NY Times piece spins against the politically progressive sites and for intellectual absurdities such as calling Joe Lieberman a moderate Democrat. Atrios (who is known to have made observations along these lines before):

[L]ike every other article which mentions blogs it avoids commenting on the racist freak show that is much of the right wing blogosphere.

Of course it will avoid such comments.

And not to put too fine a point on it, but "racist" is the only word that makes white people as crazy as "nigger" makes Black people. It makes them crazier. White people don't want to hear you talk about ANY white person being racist. They'll start telling you how many Black friends they have (I was going to quote an example from the net, but nevermind).

This is the sort of thing that let Little Green Footballs win "Best International Blog" in the Washington Post's 2004 blog contest. It's the sort of thing that lets high-profile Conservative sites with plans for world domination post crap like the post Matt Stoller deconstructed at MyDD with no expectation of repercussions.

With Regard To Today's Funeral Political Rally

Why is it that we have to accept the Pantheon of the Left and see their funerals televised -- from Wellstone to Mrs. King?

Why is it that those who participate in these funerals feel compelled to turn a solemn, religious event into a Def Comedy Jam spectacle of anti-Republican, anti-conservative boilerplate "known facts" and demands for handouts?

This is just further indication that the left is out of touch.

To borrow another contributor's phrase -- the media and the left treat the Jesse Jacksons of this country and the Jesse Jacksons of the Middle East with respect, compassion, and understanding. Those of us who work hard for a living to provide for our families, humbly go to church, and try to do unto others as we would have them do unto us see our values, our lifestyles, our beliefs, and our Lord ridiculed and bashed on television, the cover of Rolling Stone, and in the mainstream media.

I also think I have a clearer understanding of why the culture of so many black Americans in this country is below what it should be and is capable of being. The prominent black spiritual leaders, like Joseph Lowery, are more interested in subsidization from The ManTM than salvation from the Lord.

It takes a hell of a lot to get around this. Black folks who point it out will have no impact on such...offending us is part of the point of such crap.

Here's the deal, though. Part of the deal that keeps white folks from calling each other out on racism is that they're really supposed to keep some shade on it. That shit up that was just too blatant to accept. So Matt, who actively avoids calling folks racist (sorry, dawg, you said it) did call it out. And the "Gentleman" stepped down from posting at RedState.org, with a weak-ass apology:

Blanton Exits Stage Left

...I have had a blast here at RedState over the past six months, but I'm afraid I must bid you all goodbye. I am, by trade, a political operative. And with the first quarter of the election year out of the way, all the planning on paper now has to be implemented on the ground. I'm going to be accumulating massive amounts of frequent flier points over the next six months.

It has been a pleasure to be a part of the team and I'll stop by from time to time in RedHot, but otherwise it is time to go. Regrets? I have a few. Most notably I failed to keep my own advice and, in the heat of the moment, [P6: please...] wrote unfortunate words about a funeral turned political spectacle that detracted from the issue at hand. I regret that. Could I take it back, I would. I do not regret fighting against those who would surrender this country into the hands of those who would turn our nation's back to the world and bring home all the troops.

on his way back to being a professional Conservative political operative (just so you know what kind of operations to expect).

And FireDogLake is running a contest to find the racism in the (according to the TLB thing) top 100.

And  I don't know how long this will last, but it should interesting.
