I suppose I can be taken to task for waiting. I suppose there would be a degree of validity to any such complaint. My strong point is analysis, and smacking down bullshit in a way that silences it (who really cares about being correct anymore...see the debating society story linked earlier)...and I know embarrassing folks into shutting up doesn't change their motivation and only makes them hide their hands after throwing stones.

I would really really really like people to stop using sneak attacks and sliding in racism vs sexisms while they do their teary eyed utopia dreaming stumpbox speeches.
Especially in a case where the LARGE AMOUNT OF RACISM of Firedoglake goes UNMENTIONED except of course by the usual amazing folks ( I *heart* Kai).
Racist language and institutionalized racism aren't magically shameful now. They aren't LESS accepted by anyone. Considering these posts did not show up for TRex's lovely opinions on Japan ( what the fuck is it with white folk who go to japan and are shocked it's not America ?) and most responses to it ignore TRex's racism . If I was some equivacating bean counter I'd say the tip on THIS issue is that sexism will get a rise out of folks faster than race.

Maybe it's because I've been up since 3:00 a.m. this morning but I am having a hard time, no, a very hard time understanding this controversy. I don't mean that I disagree with anybody. I mean I don't understand what the argument is about. I have followed blog link after blog link and I am not getting it.
Break it down and explain it to me.
The feminist complaint is
The feminist complaint is about the sexism of disparaging the qualifications of female opponents by impugning their female attributes and of male opponents by implying femininity. Conceptually it's like white folks using blackface to disparage white folks. This is all within Progressive ranks where you generally find better but often find crap.
I like Black Amazon pointing out how the folks who you have such issues with will usually go for the sexism vs racism gambit.
As far as following it, it's like watching your first episode of a soap opera.
