All respect and no restraint

I forgot what this is like

Blogging with syndication feeds feels WAY different than actually reading the websites that produce them. Much easier to produce volume but much less serendipity.

I'm restructuring my whole computing environment, separating out the communications and personal stuff from the development and media stuff. And I'm migrating my tool set too. I have a really great PHP development environment, Zend Studio, but you have to buy this stuff. I'm going to look into the Eclipse environment. Also, it's been so long since I did any serious desktop development I decided not to load the MSDN/Delphi/Visual Studio stuff. I may get back to it later, I don't know. And I'm actually considering using OpenOffice.org rather than Microsoft Office.

All that to say I probably won't be doing anything majorly creative until this weekend. I'll start rebuilding my feed collection from scratch too.

using open office for a year now and NO complaints

definitely thumbs up on the open office. while I've kept my copy of MS-Office on the deck just in case, I haven't had recourse to use it in months - and no way in hell I'm coming out of pocket for a new version.

Now if I could just keep clients from using MS-Project, I could jetison microshizzy altogether...,

I'm thinking OpenOffice.org

I'm thinking OpenOffice.org because

  1. I don't use a quarter of the crap in Microsoft Office
  2. I use Microsoft Office because I have ten licenses for most of MS software due to my evil past...I'm not sure what my relationship with Vista will be...

You pointed me to a media-focused Linux distribution before...I lost the link in the shuffle. Could you share? I spent a day with Kubuntu and one with Mandriva.

Basically I'm trying to set up a Linux thing I don't have to mess with long enough to learn how to mess with it effectively, yet lose none of my current functionality

Early next year I'm getting a server that will let me do some virtualization.

yah mon...,

you'll be wanting to play with the newest distros a dis and dat

Big fun toys magne, reet, neet, and complete - and should play nice with your thumb drive too.
