The business of America is business, right?

Prosecutors charged that Corso received $100,000 in "unusable" cash from the undercover agent. He gave the "smuggler" a check for $100,000 drawn on his personal bank account.

Corso also agreed to transfer ownership of nine pieces of property in Prince's Bay and Huguenot "in return for $6,554,000," the complaint alleged.

STATEN ISLAND ADVANCE

An FBI sting operation has netted a Pleasant Plains man, part owner of a medical supply firm, who allegedly sought to profit from human smuggling.

Federal authorities in New Jersey have charged Joseph Corso Jr., 43, of Butler Avenue, with laundering money ostensibly paid by illegal aliens to be delivered into the United States.

They said he agreed to the crime in return for more than $6 million in real estate gains and a cut of the "smuggler's" proceeds.

A major shareholder in MedSys, a Hasbrouck Heights, N.J., medical supply firm, Corso was arrested by federal agents Jan. 5 along with the company's chief executive officer, Anthony R. Rubino, 42, of Pompton Plains, N.J.

According to the complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Newark, Corso met with an undercover FBI agent posing as a smuggler in October and December.

The Prince's Bay properties are located at 38 Bayview Ave., 5880 Amboy Rd., 5882 Amboy Rd., 5884 Amboy Rd. and 5886 Amboy Rd.
