All respect and no restraint

So far, so good

So I got all the cartoons on record and I'm watching the State of Black America on C-SPAN.

I say so far, so good because there seems to be an effort to avoid the error of lashing Black folk. They are definitely Cosbyites. But...you had to hear Cathy Hughes talking about the hip-hop generation. She got a semi-standing ovation. You had to hear Rev. Jackson talking about the history of the civil rights movement. The Reverends rocked this morning. And across the board I feel the hip-hop representation was heard respectfully and overridden. Shapton's "We always had Pigmeats but they weren't at the White House representing our culture" should (but won't) shut up his Conservative critics.

Comparing Simmond's hip-hop summit to this one would be interesting.

That's going to take a minute. C-SPAN's live feeds are oversubscribed and I can't find the one that should be on BlackAmericaWeb.com. You'll have to hang on until C-SPAN puts up their links.  I'll post them up when that happens.
