Subject: Shaquanda Cotton 

Mr. Homer:

I am not one of your constituents. I understand if this inclines you to ignore the message, but one issue in a recent Chicago Tribune article about Paris, TX disturbed me enough to write to you.

Actually, there are a number of troubling things in the article but the 15 year old Miss Cotton's attempt to hang herself as a result of spending 10 months of a seven year sentence for pushing a school aide is the issue in which I would ask you to take a hand.

In case you're not familiar with the article, I've copied it for you below. The last four paragraphs detail Miss Cotton's escalating attempts to hurt herself.

I don't think the child's death would serve Paris or Texas well. It would destroy her already damaged family. Perhaps you can talk to those involved and convinced them time served is enough punishment for a reflexive juvenile action.
