What I find particularly interesting is the increasing willingness of our domestic police agencies to incorporate and refine techniques that were initially used by totalitarian regimes like East Germany, Soviet Union, China and North Korea. Earlier this week there were news stories and discussions in the media concerning the CIA's use of interrogation and torture practices that had been used by the Soviet Union, China and North Korea.
