I read on Slashdot about how Lee Kaplan, a journalist for FrontPageMag.com sued Yaman Salahi, a UC Berkeley student and blogger, in California small claims court for tortious business interference and libel, in response to a blog Salahi had set up about him called "Lee Kaplan Watch." Salahi lost in small claims court and then lost an "appeal" — which is essentially a retrial by another small-claims judge. Seem small claims court has no regard for the first amendment, seriously.
I went and wandered around Lee Kaplan Watch. I'd never heard of him before, so was curious. I didn't see anything beyond ther pale. Bad decision. While there I found a link to another blog, named Kaplan Lies.
There is another blog exposing Lee Kaplan's journalism nowadays called "Kaplan Lies: Exposing the fraudulent journalism of Lee Kaplan." I briefly looked over the posts they have up there right now. Their articles are far more thorough and well-developed than anything we have posted here. Check out their refutation about Lee's recent smear campaign against Holocaust survivor Hedy Epstein, and their step-by-step breakdown of allegations Lee has made regarding the ISM.
Contrary to what some of the comments there claim, I am not affiliated with the blog. But, it is far more sophisticated than this blog, and I suggest readers start following that one as well, since updates here have become scarce.
I went to Kaplan Lies, a Wordpress.com-hosted blog...and it's gone...

which I found interesting. So I went to check out the Google cache...search for cache:http://kaplanlies.wordpress.com/. Nothing beyond the pale...but I guarentee Kaplan used the small claims court decision against Salahi to shut down Kaplan Lies...which made it a doubly bad decision.

It is actually a fair ruling
Free speech crosses the line when it is an apparent attack to take down a professionals and discredit them with propaganda. Obvisouly, the courts found that blog to have libel to find it liable for damages. He could have went higher than small claims to get more damages.
Actually, it seems he went
Actually, it seems he went to small claims court because he would have failed in any other court. They have no clue on constitutional issues. It's like asking your babysitter to comment on the latest pedagogical theories.
Plus, the guy is a media figure. You get to wail on them, actually.
