Let me tell you the Story of the Credentials.
Two sisters seperately asked if I'd like to blog the debate. They shall remain nameless so as not to refocus thy ire. I said yes in both cases, which turned out to be the same case, i.e. they were both asked by MBA to help identify Black political bloggers. On accounta they knew they needed help on that score.
Meanwhile, PBS approached MBA because they have a track record of supporting such efforts successfully. They managed the combined web feeds for the Scooter Libby trial that was the source of some 90% of all media coverage of that trial.
When I got the second invite I thought something was up so I searched and found PBS issued a cattle call, basically. I considered applying independently on principle and decided that would be stupid. I didn't make any of the hammers I've used in my entire life...I've borrowed hammers. Why not let someone else do the work? Didn't have to join the organization either...though I will. Maybe next time I can make some suggestions.
Leverage is a metaphor applicable to many, many situations. And we got clued in yesterday by the Supreme Corporate that greater subtly will be necessary going forward.

Better than not being invited
Take a look at the Brown folks, 2 known and 1 unknown. The whole Latinosphere is very small and this guy Gerardo Vasquez, ummm ... oh please. There is no way cracking in unless rhotoric is toned down and at this stage of the game with every civil liberties being wipe out, not a chance in hell I will tone it down.

As you say, there are but so many Latino bloggers, and then you had to pretty much drop everything and commit on two-three days' notice on this one.
If you change your analysis to crack in, you're a sell-out. But if you want to cuss folks out, you have to admit that's venting, not analysis. I really feel finding other ways to communicate that intensity isn't a change in rhetoric...as long as you do express that intensity. Getting across how serious your intent is, is very important.
