How does one support something internal to themselves that they deny?  Would this be like an alcoholic who feeds his habit but denies that he has one?  The things you include, are these material things that satisfy your psychological needs?

That's an example, yes. There's this curious denial of the physical in western society. I get the feeling we don't like having a body, that we want to evolve into energy beings, pure thought. I'm thinking of the repercussions of dealing with your body as a vehicle rather than as integral to self.

are these material things that satisfy your psychological needs?

And psychological things that satisfy your psychological needs. The things you believe and have to maintain that get you through the day.

What one needs is not the specific thing that fills the need.
