Sen. Craig arrested in airport men's room; admits to disorderly conduct

Craig82707

Roll Call is reporting that Sen. Larry Craig, an Idaho Republican, was arrested earlier this summer in a men's room at the Minneapolis airport by an undercover officer investigating complaints about sexual activity. The Capitol Hill newspaper says it obtained the arrest report.

So far, CNN and several blogs are reporting the news.

On Aug. 8 Craig pleaded guilty to misdemeanor disorderly conduct. A 10-day sentence was stayed, but he received a year probation and paid more than $500 in fines and fees, Roll Call writes.

A spokesman for Craig described the June 11 incident as a “he said/he said misunderstanding,” and said the senator's office would release a fuller statement later today.

How Long, How Long Will This B.S. Go On?

Only folks who have serious personal issues about their own sexuality are so obsessed about the sexual habits and tastes of other people. Good Br. Bill and Ms. Lewinsky ain't got a thing on these folks. I'm still trolling the online edition of the Orlando Sentinel following the developments in the murder/suicide of two male Republican political consultants who were "roommates" and a third man. Lawdy, lawdy, Miss Clawdy!

Snicker...snicker...snicker...

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA I just love this. Can't help it. It's hilarious....wonder how they'll 'explain it away'.

Not in Log Cabin

I don't think Sen. Larry Craig is a member or friend of Log Cabin Republicans. What does LCR have to do with this? Nothing, so why are you saying Log Cabin Republicans had reason to be stupid? Are you going start that thing were you keep saying over and over and over that you cannot be gay and Republican? I got news for you! There are hundreds of thousands of gay Republicans. Not all are in Log Cabin.

Gay Republicans

Yes, there are hundreds of thousands of gay Republicans; many who are open about their sexuality and others who are closeted and still others who are in deep, deep denial.

What puzzles me and hundreds of thousands of other people is why do so many gay Republicans swear fealty to a poliitcal party that scapegoats them and uses them for political fodder. What exactly are the psychodynamics in play between gay Republicans and the GOP that permits gay Republicans to either overlook or deny their promotion of a party whose base is hositle to their very existence?

Yes, you can be gay and a Republican but why not be gay and a libertarian instead?

I don't think Sen. Larry

I don't think Sen. Larry Craig is a member or friend of Log Cabin Republicans

No, he's not. And under the circumstances, shouldn't he be?

Nothing, so why are you saying Log Cabin Republicans had reason to be stupid?

Because there are so many gay Republicans they had reason to expect a little acceptance of their existence.

There are hundreds of thousands of gay Republicans. Not all are in Log Cabin.

You don't have to convince me of that. It's the non-gay Republicans you have to convince of that. It's that or stay in the closet.

I don't say you can't be gay and Republican...that obviously isn't the case.

It's self-evident that

It's self-evident that homosexual white males can attain grand ole party and electoral high office, so they're just hedging their political bets. It's the deluded black republicans who should find all this very instructive, cause from what I can see, they hain't managed to hedge shit yet - and have no closet in which to hide.

Hedging Their Bets

I dunno but I think something much deeper than increasing their chances of winning or lowering the odds of losing is going on for guys like Larry Craig, Mark Foley etc. I think these guys really are, among other things, white supremicists who are drawn to political movements and causes that are built around a fairly rigid hierarchical structure in which white males, who are their sexual ideals par excellence, are exalted and placed above all others. Larry Craig's forays into public toilets may or may not have much to do with homosexuality but they certainly have a lot do with a need to be degraded, humiliated and abused.

See, this is the kind of sex

See, this is the kind of sex scandal I can link...where the idiot just keeps wading deeper and deeper into it.

A Curious Chapter in the History of Republican Gay-Baiting

Wyoming Senator, Lester Hunt, a staunch opponent of McCarthyism, committed suicide in 1954 when Republicans in Congress threatened to expose his son's arrest in Washington D.C. on a morals charge related to homosexuality if he did not abdicate his seat.

Here is a link commenting on the parallel between this incident and today's climate.

Gay people clearly have no place in the Republican party unless guarding their right to be gay in a civil society is less important than upholding other privileges which come with voting Republican.

Freaks come out at night.....

The song used to say the "freaks come out at night" but, in the GOP, they come out in bathroom stalls. Having interacted with so many "powerful" people, all I can say is it seems that the more hostile they are to diversity of thought and the rights of others, the more "kinky" they are when the lights go out (or the bathroom stall door closes).

Wow, what a shock. A

Wow, what a shock. A hypocrite politician!!
