KKK Flag A Suitable Replacement for Tattered US Flag?

A community picnic sparks controversy in Kalkaska County. A Ku Klux Klan flag was flown during the Rapid City Businessmen's Association cookout. The event was meant to thank the community for its support. People say the flag resembled the Confederate flag, but included a cross inside a circle with the words white power and Ku Klux Klan. Organizers say they planned to fly an American flag, but it was tattered, so someone used the Klan flag instead. A spokesman for the businessman's association has apologized for the incident.

I don't know but that the explanation didn't make things worse.

They must not see much of a

They must not see much of a difference between what the two flags represent.

NOT the state flag? The KKK Flag

This old thing?

"What, this old thing? Why it's just something we run up the flag pole when all our good flags are at the cleaners!"

Seriously--shouldn't that reporter be asking why a member of the "businessmen's association" even owns a Klan flag?

Seriously--shouldn't that

Seriously--shouldn't that reporter be asking why a member of the "businessmen's association" even owns a Klan flag?

I think it's self explanatory.

Haw!

Literalist!

What I meant was, Why is a person who owns a Klan flag accepted as a member of the "businessmen's association"? OK, maybe that question has an obvious answer too. But shouldn't a reporter ask?

Literalist! Actually... You

Literalist!

Actually...

You know, I've discovered that pushing people to actually answer questions in a way the actually reveals their position is very rude. If the reporter asked, he wouldn't be able to speak to that guy ever again.

What's rude is...

Jacoby's insult to our intelligence.  I don't recall John Lewis, Jesse Jackson or anyone he named in his article reducing all of American Racism to the KKK.  Glasses, contacts and laser eye surgery must be one of them race-based programs.  Something has to account for how Whites continue to see things so differently.  I'm sure Lewis and his contemporaries dealt with plenty of racist, bigoted businessmen who were not members of the KKK.

I'm waiting for his companion commentary, though:

"Destruction in White America is self-inflicted" or "White-on-White crime means Whites should STFU about anything or anybody else." Afterall, 85 percent of white homicide victims are killed by someone of their own race.

Nquest, fist raised high

I completely agree with you. But, reducing racism to the KKK is a simplistic and moronic way to try and weasel out of facing the real substance of racism.
