Petty but funny

Mark Corallo, a volunteer who helped launch the notion of a Thompson bid, became the fourth high-level press aide to leave the campaign.

"About the only people who haven't worked in the Fred Thompson press shop this summer are Larry Craig and that woman astronaut who wore those diapers cross-country," said Jim Mills, who also left last week.

No one else is going to carry that quote in their news section.

That's from the NY Post coverage of ol' Fred coming out of the electoral closet the other day. The New York Post, as you probably know, is a Rupert Murdoch property. And Murdoch is a Giuliani supporter...largely because Giuliani was instrumental in the establishment of the Fox News.

In Cable TV Fight, Mayor Plans to Put Fox Channel on a City Station

The Giuliani administration intensified its confrontation with Time Warner last night, announcing that because the company's cable systems refused to carry a 24-hour news channel started by Rupert Murdoch, the city would put the channel on one of its five municipal-run cable stations.

Administration officials contended that Time Warner could not block the move, arguing that Federal law prohibited cable operators from censoring programs on municipal-run channels. They said that as early as next week, they would place Mr. Murdoch's station, the Fox News Channel, and another station that Time Warner had rejected, Bloomberg Television News, on the channels.

They emphasized that the two stations would run without commercials to comply with the goal of the municipal channels, which is to promote educational and governmental programming.

The officials defended the plan, which Time Warner immediately denounced. They said the administration was trying to insure that viewers in the city had a wide array of news outlets, adding that the Fox and Bloomberg programming was by its nature educational.

Yes, one more reason for progressives to hate Rudy and for Conservatives to vote for him.
