All respect and no restraint

I'm reconsidering my rejection of capital punishment

I have been more verbose recently. But you don't want me to be this time.

I bet their fucking neighbors have stories about how shocked they are, how they seemed so nice.

Woman tortured for at least a week, officials say

  • Story Highlights
  • Six West Virginians charged with kidnapping, torture and sexual assault
  • Logan County Sheriff's Department answered anonymous tip Saturday
  • Tip directed authorities to house where they found woman with stab wounds
  • She limped toward the door with her arms held out, saying, "Help me."

(CNN) -- Six West Virginia residents have been charged with kidnapping, torturing and sexually assaulting a Charleston woman for at least a week, the Logan County Sheriff's Department said Monday.

Sheriff's deputies went Saturday to a Big Creek, West Virginia, residence in response to an anonymous tip that a woman was being held against her will, the department said in a news release.

As they spoke with a woman on the front porch, "a female inside the residence limped toward the door with her arms held out, saying, "Help me."

The 23-year-old woman had stab wounds on her left leg and bruises around her eyes, authorities said. The wounds were about a week old, the release said.

"Deputies found her with two black eyes, part of her hair had been pulled out, she had lacerations on her neck, and she had been physically, mentally and sexually abused," Logan County Sheriff W.E. Hunter said.

The victim was forced to eat rat and dog feces and drink from the toilet, according to the criminal complaint filed in magistrate court, The Associated Press reported.

Deputies arrested Frankie Brewster, 49; her son Bobby, 24; Danny J. Combs, 20, of Harts, West Virginia; and George A. Messer, 27, Karen Burton, 46, and Alisha Burton, 23, all of Chapmanville, West Virginia. All six were held Monday in lieu of $100,000 bond each, and all have asked for court-appointed public defenders, according to AP.

Charges range from kidnapping and torturing to malicious wounding and battery.

Those arrested are white and the victim is black, and the FBI plans to investigate it as a possible hate crime, according to AP. The sheriff's department requested the FBI's participation, an agency spokesman told AP.

i'm with you, P6

a friend of mine who travelled in cameroon and was mugged told me of how the shocked and angry villagers who took care of her immediately afterwards found the culprit and proceeded to administer tribal justice. she ended up having to beg them not to kill him. it's at times such as this that i almost feel like some tribal justice would be called for in this kind of case - the mysteriously unseeing and unhearing neighbors having to save face by being responsible for administering appropriate justice on these neighbors of theirs. the thing is, i like you wonder if anyone could innocently "cast the first stone".

stories like this make me shudder to think how many people this happens to that don't get miraculously rescued. excuse me, i need to step out and get some fresh air.

It's Much, Much Worse According to Local Papers

I feel for the Sister. P6, still against capital punishment

I would just make sure that they found themselves in General Populations with Pookie, Ray-Ray, Tiny, Sheniqua and LaShawnda.

I told you once before what I'd do with the child molesters.

I'd give them the same treatment.

Temple, thanks for the very sad link.

It is much worse

Two people are still on the loose.

Aryans who'll catch their back...the best that could have been done would have been to stay out of harm's way by studiously avoiding the perils of online solicitation (as reported). I'll suspend any judgments on this until all the facts are in. It's ugly as hell and there is always more to this. Curious that the story was released today. I don't believe you were supposed to find this.

Jena 6, meet the Big Creek 8. Let the comparison of Apples and Oranges begin.

Aryans who'll catch their

Aryans who'll catch their back

Hence my reconsideration.

I'll suspend any judgments on this until all the facts are in

Not me.

I Wonder

According to one news report I read it said that the victim had met one of the men charged in the crimes committed against her over the Internet. I wonder if she had presented herself as a sexually submissive female into bondage etc. looking for a dominant white male. I want to see what the "perps" claim as their defense.

I wonder if she had

I wonder if she had presented herself as a sexually submissive female into bondage etc. looking for a dominant white male.

So what if she did?

Well, If She Did Then It Becomes More Difficult To Prosecute...

her tormentors because (1) their lawyers will claim that she can't be a victim and a willing participant or provocateur at the same time; and (2) if she is a female sexual submissive who has sought out relationships in the past with dominant white males then this fact will emerge during the investigation and trial.

I am not implying that she or any sexual submissive - female or male - deserves to be treated in such a manner. Among those who do swing that way there are rules and protocols that are to be followed and signals that indicate when one of the parties wants to opt out of the agreement. This woman has been treated in a terrible and horrifying way but anyone in this country charged with a crime - even seemingly poor white trash - is allowed to mount a defense. I hope for her sake that she was kidnapped and forced to accompany her abductor to the place where she was assaulted.

Big Creek 8

I find it a little alarming that few people mentioned anything about loopholes for the perps that killed Channon Christian and Chris Newsom even though i think that could be drug related it is not a hate crime. This torture in WV however, is on a totally different planet, this poor girl will be a wreck for the rest of her life. Forget the Death penalty let Mike Vick go and give a few years to raise a few dozen pit bulls and lets see how tough the Big Creek 8 are in the "bull Ring."

I think there is such a

I think there is such a thing as too open a mind. There are things I refuse to consider rationally.

No one asks for that. Putting yourself in a position where that happens to you is one thing. Being the beast that does it is another.

Fortunately the fucks have public defenders.

P6, You Know That I Don't Have An Open Mind...

on this kind of stuff. I'm just saying that we live in America and this incident happened to a black person in a southern state.

Didn't take too long

For the "what about Channon Christian and Chris Newsom/It's reverse racism" argument to come up out of no where... Big Creek 8, Mmm catchy, did you come up with that by yourself or was it just to easy to appropriate the Jena case?

Can you tell the difference between a crime of opportunity i.e. you know the part where a group of criminals go out to rob folks and the first person they come up to versus a hate-crime i.e. targeting a victim specifically because of her/his/their race?

Note also that many cases of hate-crime are either underreported or lacking in substantive evidence for prosecution.

But please feel free to ignore rational comparison and historical context since they have no use in your racist agenda.

And just in case you missed

And just in case you missed the point no one here as suggested the "Big Creek 8" are not guilty, as long as they have their day in court and evidence (which I believe is substantial) supports their conviction, they should be punished to the full extent of the law for the horrible crimes they committed.

Again, feel free to resume frothing at the mouth if the logic escapes you.

PT, I just get angry every

PT, I just get angry every time I consider this.

Sewere, Fredrick is on your side.

I Get Somewhere On The Other Side of Angry But...

I can't figure out how to pull it off and get away with it if you get my drift.

PT - Your Thought was my First Thought

It's not so much an open mind...I am outraged by her condition - but I tend to believe these things are not as simple as initially reported. I don't say that to place blame in any way at the victim's feet. I'm just want to be sure to cast my attention wide enough when I do so.

More importantly, do you know if the family/community supporting the family has made any requests?  Can contributions be earmarked to aid in her care?

Whoops!

Frederick,

Please accept my sincere apologies and disregard my comments.

P6, Thanks for catching that.

This Is What I'm Talking About

Some dirty business:

In July 1994, Frankie Brewster was arrested and charged in the first-degree murder of Polly T. Farrell, the 84-year-old mother of her live-in boyfriend, Bisha Tomblin. Farrell was shot at least four times.

Tomblin was also Bobby Brewster's father. The slaying happened in Big Creek.

A magistrate hearing after the arrest had to be delayed because Brewster was "not understanding her rights," according to court documents.

The magistrate then wrote that Brewster "seemed to not be in her right state of mind."

Frankie Brewster eventually pleaded guilty to lesser charges of voluntary manslaughter and wanton endangerment with a firearm. She was jailed at the Pruntytown Correctional Center and released on parole in 2000. During the parole hearing, Brewster was described as remorseful, concerned and respectful, according to court records.

While Brewster was in jail, Bisha Tomblin was shot and killed by his son, Bobby Brewster, who was 14 then.

Bobby Brewster was arrested in 2006 for obstruction and battery of a police officer. He was arrested in March for brandishing a deadly weapon and domestic assault. All those charges were eventually dismissed.

Danny Combs was arrested in 2005 for domestic assault and violation of a protective order. Those charges were dismissed. In August 2006, he was arrested on charges ranging from unlawful malicious wounding to domestic battery.

Earlier this year, Alisha Burton and George Messer were indicted by a grand jury after an August 2006 incident where they assaulted and robbed a Logan County woman at her home.  According to court records, the two broke into the woman's home, then proceeded to "assault in and about her face and body with their fists" and committed "partial strangulation.  The charges were dismissed in April after prosecutors could not find the victim.

I see a MAJOR phukkkin problem with law enforcement and social services in LOGAN COUNTY, West Virginia.  This shit never should have happened - and EVERY single law enforcement official and social service provider in the County has to know these folks in one way or another.  There is absolutely no way this should have gone down.

I won't argue about saints and sinners, but if these folks in WVA. were half as hungry for prosecutions are they are here in Kings County, this shit never happens.  There is enough blame to go around - but responsible folks should have BEEN ON THIS in 1994.  That was 13 years ago.

This is just the beginning of this case.  I suspect there may be a great deal more to this including an explanation as to why the charges against these folks were repeatedly dismissed.

What the phukkk?  Seriously, what the phukkk?

Apparently, Brewster, one of

Apparently, Brewster, one of the suspects, had been charged with beating the same victim in July.

too true.
