Ooh, Oliver sounds testy...
UPDATE: Professor Anita Hill, the woman that this... troll... sexually harassed has written an op-ed in the NY Times to counter his slander of her in his book pimping tour.
ON Oct. 11, 1991, I testified about my experience as an employee of Clarence Thomas’s at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
I stand by my testimony.
Justice Thomas has every right to present himself as he wishes in his new memoir, “My Grandfather’s Son.” He may even be entitled to feel abused by the confirmation process that led to his appointment to the Supreme Court.
But I will not stand by silently and allow him, in his anger, to reinvent me.
See, people. This is why the Supreme Court is more than Roe v. Wade. It's about getting good, decent people on the highest court in the land, and not absolute filth like Clarence Thomas whose odor wafts from every case he gets his grubby little paws on.
Me, I remember the heaings were NOT going well for Vidkun Clarence when they decided to call Prof. Hill. I also remember she has testified previously, privately, chose not to press the issue and was compelled to appear. I remember someone, I think it was Arlen Spector, saying "Our job is to find out the truth of these allegations," and said "Nooo! Your job it to see if this clown should be a Supreme Court Justice!!"
My plaintive cry died unheeded. Like an argument on the net that hinges on whether the strawman is disproved, Clarence Thomas...the world's first documentable case of a less qualified Black man getting a job because of his race (his SINGLE YEAR OF JUDICIAL EXPERIENCE sure wasn't the reason)...was found innocent of sexual harassment qualified to be a Supreme Court justice.
And though folks suggested Prof. Hill's issues with Vidkun were leaked by opponents of his nomination, I have always felt it was his supporters that needed the distraction from his really poor showing at the confirmation hearing.
