According to a sheriff's office statement, Sinn told a 17-year-old boy to get into the pickup and be prepared to flee.

Sinn, 45, of Newman Lake, then reportedly tied a rope to the truck's trailer hitch and to Sturman-Camyn and told the teenager to drive away. The 17-year-old apparently was unaware that he was dragging Sturman-Camyn when he drove away in fear, the sheriff's statement said.

Police: Student dragged to death made threats

NEWPORT, Wash. (AP) — A university student tied to a pickup and dragged to his death on a rural road had been threatening people with an ax during a night of heavy drinking at a hunting campsite, witnesses told police.

Wendell C. Sinn Jr. was jailed for investigation of second-degree murder in the death of Jerid S. Sturman-Camyn near Usk, about 45 miles north of Spokane, Pend Oreille County sheriff's deputies said.

Sturman-Camyn, 20, described as a martial arts enthusiast, lost his temper, grabbed an ax and threatened others during a drinking party at Sinn's hunting camp late Saturday, witnesses told deputies.

According to a sheriff's office statement, Sinn told a 17-year-old boy to get into the pickup and be prepared to flee.

Deputies found the pickup with Sturman-Camyn's body after the 17-year-old called to report someone was chasing him down a road with an ax and another person called and reported a body being dragged by a pickup.

There was no word early Monday whether Sinn had a lawyer to speak for him or whether the 17-year-old would face charges.

No Cultural Issue Here...

...because the accused perp(s) are not black. Juan Williams, the emerging national expert on black culture and black people, is quite adept, I have been informed, at being able to identify when black American culture has caused someone - even a white person - to commit a horrible crime or atrocity. Williams, at least according to what I have read, believes that at a minimum the accused must be black before black American culture (or hip-hop, which has somehow become synonymous for black American culture) can be declared the sufficient cause of criminal behavior. Black American culture has become both the scene and the agency.

In no case can white American culture be described as being the sufficient cause of any violent criminal or anti-social behavior such as illegally invading Iraq or raping one's daughters and placing electric shock collars around their necks. It may be unfair but that's how it is moving west.

Look at all that violence. Could it be...the culture?

I blame country & western music.

maybe it's the (shoes) boots...

... but I'd bet that was NOT an import pickup truck...

Cultural Issue

I believe the Cultural Issue here is not race based but more society based in nature. The fact that fathers would be taking their sons on hunting trips that included alcohol is far beyond anything my mind is capable of understanding. Guns and alcohol never make for a great company be it in a bar or in the woods. Heavy drinking combined with the attitudes of a combatant at large lead to a foreseeable end to a dangerous encounter that turned deadly.

Today’s culture thrives of violence, shows like CSI, events like arena fighting, and all to many games our children play are all conducive to promoting violence being met by violence. As in this case as well as the others, there is never a winner like you find in the factious proceedings listed.

Not race based?

I believe the Cultural Issue here is not race based but more society based in nature.

What the hell does this mean? How exactly do you make the distinction?

Which "race" would this be most typical of: "Fathers taking theirs sons on hunting trips..."

Not to mention heavy

Not to mention heavy drinking college students....
