All respect and no restraint

"He courted the most religiously intolerant sector of American political life"

How long is the black clergy

How long is the black clergy going to go without publicly questioning Romney's fitness for national office given his involvement with a church that held, at least until 1978, that blacks were descendants of Ham and unfit to enter heaven except as slaves. I realize that many of these folks don't want to do anything to derail their churches' receipt of federal dollars but when is enough enough?

Add to that the fact that

Add to that the fact that Romney is a church official...I heard he is the equivalent of a bishop.

It's one thing to elect a Catholic; it's another thing to elect a bishop, someone who primary loyalty is clearly NOT the government or nation.

Well, we elected a Catholic

Well, we elected a Catholic who did not talk about any relationship with Jesus nor was he grubbing for votes among the fundamentalist flock. We need to give up any notions that we should be tolerant of the religious beliefs of people who want to impose their religious beliefs on us. It was only a few years ago, for example, that Jewish organizations finally succeeded in persuading the Mormon Church to stop holding baptismal rites for Jewish victims of the Holocaust.

It was bad enough for these Jews to have been murdered in the first place. But then to have the Mormon Church conducting ritualistic baptisms in the name of Jesus Christ, which is, to put it mildly, anathema to even the most liberal observant Jews smacks of the kind of anti-Semitism that led to the Jews being killed by the Nazis and their European allies.

I know. Kennedy pretty much

I know. Kennedy pretty much hit the spot. "Yeah, I got a religion. What's it to ya, as long as I don't foist it onto you." Romney pretty much said the opposite.
