All respect and no restraint

So...

I got some email inviting me to this thing at the end of January.

Strategizing for Democratic Survival

A Collaborative Strategy Summit for Media Pros, Scholars,
Activists and Whistleblowers Working for Truth, Transparency
and an Informed Resurgent Democracy

One of the sponsoring organizations is 911Truth.org, which frankly does not impress me. Many of the other sponsors do. I'm really mixed about whether or not to attend.

The conference is in Santa Cruz, which would let me visit some folks in the Bay Area that I haven't seen in way too long. In fact, I had a two hour phone conversation with one of the two remaining people I am willing to talk to for that long on the phone. I think I'm looking forward to seeing my friends a lot more than a media planning summit, even one held by a truly left progressive crew.

GOALS
• Gather key media constituencies needed to inject transformative truths* into 2008 political news and electoral debate;
* convergent evidence of an ongoing corporate/authoritarian coup d'état, election theft, 9/11 complicity/cover-up, "War on Terror" fraud, etc.
• Honor brave audacious "truth war veterans" (casualties & survivors) and learn from their experiences;
• Devise coherent decentralized models for distribution of suppressed news, synergistic truth-telling, and collaborative strategies to disclose, legitimize and popularize deeper historical narratives.. [<-- P6: This is where they got my attention]
• In sum, discover in this moment of Constitutional crisis, ecological peril and widening war, whether 300 top investigative journalists, whistleblowers and indy media all-stars can transform the way Americans perceive and defend their world.

So. I'm starting to drift toward the idea of going to San Francisco for a week or so. My question is, do you folk think a weekend in Santa Cruz is worth it?

I think it sounds like a great opportunity to explore

But as a loyal fan, the selfish side of me is extending an invitation to the Bay Area and if you have time would be happy to sit down to a meal and tap the vast wealth of information that is P6.

Sure. End of January looks

Sure. End of January looks like the time, because I have to do this on credit so I need to reduce my balance first.

Ought to be interesting...I've promised George he gets a call when I get back to S.F. (said promise is old but has not expired)

You would definitely have

You would definitely have something to contribute to the proceedings.  Can't wait for the News and Notes post

In NY

Sir, I completely forgot to mention I'm actually going to be in Philly for Xmas and New years and I'm sure I'm going to be able to escape the fam for a day's trip to NY.  I and another race-concious Nigerian blogger are thinking of meeting up either the evening of the 27th or the 30th, and would be greatly appreciate your company if you're free. So please email me. Cheers - Sewere
