For a while, it looked as if his strategy was to team up with Obama to knock Clinton off her stride. But during the last debate, he joined Clinton against Obama -- and then met privately with Clinton afterward.
I asked him what they had discussed. "We talked about how the media isn't giving me enough coverage," he said with a smile.
He and Billary are known to have plotted to exclude as many candidates as possible from the Presidential campaign debates.
My sympathy for him is far more limited than my sympathy for the folks for whom he really is speaking.
[E]very time I go to an Edwards rally, I come away feeling disheartened -- not for Edwards, but for the people whose disappointment and disaffection he captures in his cadenced rhetoric about taking back the country from "special interests" holding it for ransom. Dismissing him as a born-again "populist" ignores the fact that Edwards has touched a nerve, especially in small towns and rural areas where, for the unskilled or the unlucky, "the economy" basically means Wal-Mart.
"You have been ignored too long," Edwards told the people in Lancaster. And he's right.
It would be good if folks looked at Obama's platform (it's all on his website, ignore Billary's claims that he isn't specific...it's as big a lie as everything else they've said about his campaign). Look at it and see if his plans really include you. I'm not trying to make up your mind for you. I want to compel your consideration, not your compliance.

Something that I'm noticing
Something that I'm noticing is the rise of independence among middle and upper class black supporters of Obama and Edwards. As Hillary Clinton is propped up to be the frontrunner many blacks have said they won't support her under any circumstances. They seem quite unwilling to follow the conventional wisdom that favors a Democrat over a Republican in the White House.
Strangely enough, even though Obama hasn't run on race, black middle and upper class partisan interests have coalesced around him and given a definite racial thrust to his campaign. This new formation is challenging the old vanguard which supports Clinton.
Elite black partisan class interests also seem to influence conservative bloggers. The Conservative Brotherhood, for example, has been rather measured in their approach to Obama.
If Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic nomination will we look back on it as the catalyst for the resurgence of Black Republicans in the vein of a Michael Steele?
They seem quite unwilling to
We don't favor a liar. That's all.
No. Why would it? Is Michael Steele not the same guy who lost?
You'd think the absolute failure of the Year of the Black Conservative would have convinced folks they don't have a clue as to what's going on in the Black communities.
The Conservative Brotherhood's problem is exactly what BET's Bob Johnson said. They got, by mainstream standards, a perfect Black man. And he's a Democrat...they don't know how to campaign against him.
submariner, here is how I see it.

IMO, these Black Middle and Upper Class folks see THEMSELVES in Obama. They completely identify with him, and his 'struggle' in White Corporate America. The Arena is Politics, but it's just the same to them as the Corporate America in which they travel everyday. They see in Obama, someone who is playing by a set of rules NOT for him, doing pretty well, and just as he's about to truly succeed, THE RULES CHANGE. The script is flipped and rules that never were there suddenly are. They know this; that's why this Dogwhistle Politics is ringing in their ears. They see themselves in Obama, and they understand TO THEIR SOULS how wrong he's being done.

Nope. They're just jealous of him. Unlike those ' elders', who have sold out and put on their Handkerchiefs, our more conservative brethren are just stunned that Obama, who made pretty much OPPOSITE choices of them, has this much success.
If Hillary Clinton wins the Democratic nomination will we look back on it as the catalyst for the resurgence of Black Republicans in the vein of a Michael Steele?
Nope, which is a shame, but they'd have to be willing to call out their own party when they see the Dogwhistle politics happening.
Steele didn't lose because of Black votes. I keep on asking - name me a White Republican who has lost an election after garnering THIRTY PERCENT OF THE BLACK VOTE.
Steele didn't lose because of the Black vote.
If Hillary Clinton wins the
They wouldn't be Republicans then.
You've made that point before...it's a good one.
P6 knows how many times I
P6 knows how many times I have said the following: conservative black Republicans will not make any appreciable headway with black voters unless and until they unmoor their black behinds from the platform and agenda of the national Republican Party and craft a program that actually addresses black folks' real needs and issues. (Here are some clues: it is not gay and lesbian marriages, abortions or the American War on Terror.)
Black conservatives, whether they are Republicans or Independents, need to spend less time cultivating white patrons and white voters and more time working in the trenches in the black community. In addition, they need to identify, cultivate and promote black candidates for office who are ready, willing and able to walk the streets in black neighborhoods and knock on the doors of black folks' homes. Michael Steele was and is not that kind of candidate.

Actually, I lost count a while back.
