All respect and no restraint

Though I see your point, fact is the news media's lack of credibility is what allows such tactics to work

Latest Clinton tactic: Fake news reports

The Clinton campaign's latest tactic in Ohio is, apparently, a radio ad that tries to make listeners think it's a news report until the very end.

Stuff like this, if it succeeds in fooling voters, fairly seriously pollutes the information environment by trying to steal the credibility of the news media and use it to present a biased, exagerrated set of facts. Why can't we rely on people who want to be president to not engage in the kind of creepy behavior that you teach your kids not to do?

How sad...

to come to grips with what Karl Rove knew to be true--that the American people can be suckered and threatened into believing whatever you tell them. Shrillary's campaign manager, Mark Penn, is her Rove, and pulled out every last trick in his playbook to deliver for his candidate yesterday, and it sickens me. She will now continue these tactics, buoyed by her "success," until someone shows people the manipulative, cynical cow she is. I've got to believe Obama's campaign is pondering right now the best way to bring her bullshit to light, and to make sure it is stopped in its tracks. You can't fool all of the people all of the time, and the Democratic convention is still a long way away.

HL Mencken Knew It Decades Ago

Easy to dupe.  Easy to dope.  Show me a nigger, I'll show you a rope.  That's all American.

"Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people."
