Mr. Lambro called Rev.
Mr. Lambro called Rev. Wright's rhetoric "racist" just like Zenpundit claimed the statements were "bigoted" and like Greta Van Susteren who claimed Wright's statements were "hate" against White Americans similar to the way Al Sharpton (and Obama) characterized Don Imus' remarks. (Oh, snap! That seemed like the first time she tried and, just like Z, couldn't find a single statement that matched her charge despite repeated chances to produce.)
Re: the caller, there seems to be a problem understanding the idea of "do unto others..." White folks don't like when the "race card" is used against them, so that Christian/religious sensitivity seems to be the very thing Obama tried to appeal to when he mentioned his loving grandmother who, despite her love for Barack, couldn't break free of her social conditioning on race. For years when real and perceived charges have been levied against White Americans the under-talk has been how good a person X or Y is and how certain "good" things he or she has done shows how they are not racist. Hell, that's the kind of stuff that was just said about Geraldine Ferraro and 'offending' White Americans too numerous to mention.
I don't recall there being much or any question about how "good" the various (white) persons were/are which makes this Rev. Wright thing all the more odd, especially since no one has identified a "racist" or "bigoted" statement. The expressed intent is to say that he is a "bad" guy. At least that's what I get from the reaction about the church, in general, and the responses to people who bear witness to the good Wright and his church does in particular.
Another caller ramped up the fearmongering when he alluded to Rev. Wright's association with Malcolm X... The horror!!! So much for Anthony's theory suggesting that America celebrates Malcolm X.
