The Democratic Battle Continues
By Jack KellySuper delegates should vote for Sen. Barack Obama because he's black, many pundits are saying -- though not in precisely those words.
Hillary Clinton should drop out because it's all but impossible mathematically for her to overcome Sen. Obama's slim leads in elected delegates and total votes cast, wrote Jim Vandehei and Mike Allen of the Politico.
"Unless Clinton is able to at least win the primary popular vote -- which also would take nothing less than an electoral miracle -- and use that achievement to impress super delegates, she has only one scenario for victory. An African-American opponent and his backers would be told that, even though he won the contest with voters, the prize is going to someone else," they wrote.
Let's pretend we're Republicans. Let's pretend Mike Huckabee had money to campaign with. Do you think, had he and McCain been in the same relative position that Obama and Clinton are in, the Republican Party would override the Conservative Christian electorate?
Do you think, had Ron Paul come up with a delegate lead (sadly, not as absurd as you might desire), his supporters would react kindly to McCain if he were given the nomination over their candidate?
This is my point...the words "African American" are entirely irrelevant to Vandehei and Allen's analysis. It came from their heads and not from events.
"Unless Clinton is able to at least win the primary popular vote -- which also would take nothing less than an electoral miracle -- and use that achievement to impress super delegates, she has only one scenario for victory. A candidate and his backers would be told that, even though he won the contest with voters, the prize is going to someone else," they wrote.
Isn't that just as unworkable?
If you need an example of racial bias that subtlely influences, this is a flawless example. The gentlemen involved may actually think there's no bias in their coverage.

I've been wondering the same thing of late...
If positions were reversed, that Obama was in Hilary's present mathematical position and vice versa, wouldn't there be this HUUUGE outcry and apoplectic fury for Obama to "let it go?" Why does Hillary get a pass?
They would have run Obama out of town
if the situations were reversed. You know it, and I know it.
