Well, sometimes the apple does fall far from the tree. Or, maybe, she is expected to play dumb and be deferential to men so as not to offend the women who watch this program. (Believe it or not, but it is female viewers who wig out if they feel the women on these faux news programs are not being deferential enough to the guys. I don't get it.)

When opponents of Hillary (and I am one) cease to use sexist comments to frame their opinions; most of the air can thankfully be released from the Clinton balloons. We need to be able to address the fact that white women who claim to be feminsts (who are by definition anti-war and pro women's rights), are not, when they cast their lot behind Monster. Just sayin'.

Yeah, Matthews has never liked Hillary. He might have liked Bill at one time but the Lewinsky scandal wigged him out. (BTW, can you believe that someone like Rachel Maddow is saying that folks shouldn't mention the Lewinsky problem because women will see it as an attack on Hillary. Maddow is pretty sharp but please! If I knew that Bill was lying about never having had "sex with that woman" then his wife certainly knew he was lying.)

I was in DC with my six year old daughter this Monday for the Easter Egg Hunt at the White House. Of course the guests were excited. What I didn't expect was the palpable anticipation among the black groundskeepers, custodians, and clerks at the visitor center. Obama's name would be traded furtively between us. My friend who accompanied me said that Barack will bring out the best and worse of this nation. I witness this in exchanges like this one with Chris Matthews and a week ago between the anchors at Fox. I see it in Paul Krugman's vigorous criticism of Obama and passive acceptance of Clinton while Maureen Dowd, David Brooks, and Frank Rich press for the man and chastise Hillary. It also happens to black people. I would have bet the house that Maxine Waters and Tavis Smiley would never choose patronage and access over power and influence but that is what they did. Then I see Oprah going all out for Obama. And even John McWhorter's sorry ass has departed from the script. I wouldn't be shocked if this was his first step on the road to Damascus in the way Arianna Huffington had her's years ago. Oh my!
