Obama's lunch speech and interview

(sorry it's late)

Obviously he had to address the "bitter" thing in his speech...he regrets the word because it lets folks spin stuff, but the point is still valid, and 'angry' or 'frustrated' are better words.

You know, if you believed everything you've ever been told about America, Obama's speech sounds really good. It's not even fair to compare McCain's thing to his. So...on to the interview questions.

Question Can a Dem talk Guns, God and <mumble> without getting in trouble
ANSWER: Yes. We have to because people are into guns in a way they will not let go of. On the other hand 22 kids get killed. Abortin decisions have moral impact,, yet women don't decide lightly

point: Politics has become a sport, and we're not even trying.

Question: Are you a rock star? Stupid. Question.
ANSWER: That noise was driven by the media not having seen the big eared Black guy. Now people are excited about each other.

Question: Reagan and Johnson were skilled communicators, Bush is a bully...what YOU gonna do?
ANSWER: Open things up to get some transparency and accountability (okay...), Set a tone that allows bipartisanship to work, since as things stand votes in Washington are DESIGNED to polarize (a majority capable of steamrolling Republicans would be better) and...use the "Bully Pulpit" to talk about the stuff government CAN'T do (and in the middle of all that he goes Cosby, specifically targeting Black folks. Again.)

Question: re the media shield law, who should decide if the reporter's thing violates national security?
ANSWER: Judges, who have done a good job when they weren't short-circuited by Bush.

Question: McCain has drawn even with Obama in the poll due to the extended hostlities. Should Clinton step aside?
ANSWER: The extended campaign is good for the party, and we'll all pull together at the end. Not worried, though he HAS been restraining himself...being ahead in every measure makes that easier for him than for Mrs. Bill Clinton.

Question: Can you imagine shifting troops from Iraq to afghanistan to get "Obama bin Laden"? (yes, the interviewer's tongue did slip, and Obama handled it gently. That is a bad, bad sign, though)
ANSWER: Yes, and his plan is to withdraw one or two brigades per month from Iraq, completing the withdrawal in about 18 months. This is NOT "precipitous" because if Iraq can't stand up after seven years it won't stand up at all, which is why McCain's 100 years WOULD be a fighting, killing, dying century.

The interview part really did parallel the questions put to McCain earlier this morning.
