The thing about reading between the lines is that it makes it really easy to ignore the lines you're reading between.

Given that the Senate has
Given that the Senate has been one of the most conservative institutions in our political life, Obama's categorization as a liberal Senator doesn't signify that he is on the far left of the political spectrum. People who throw out descriptions like "liberal Senator" possess a very limited view of our political history. Either that or they are willfully ignorant. Most of the people who are recognized as "great" Senators have been conservative, and the power brokers who have set the agenda in the Senate have traditionally been conservative or, at the very least, centrist.
Not just "liberal Senator",
Not just "liberal Senator", but "The most liberal Senator in U.S. history", according to this guy.
Landscaping?
The man owns a landscaping business? I wonder if all of his employees are in the country legally. And to Plansmantx: Haw! That same thing made me laugh. He's gone from "liberal" to "most liberal in this session" to "most liberal in the entire history of the country."
Just musing here, but I
Just musing here, but I wonder if the people who deplore the affirmation of Black values really understand that they are implicitly asserting that Blackness is anathema and must be rejected and subsumed into a culture that is unwilling to fully assimilate Black folks even when they try.

"...I wonder if the people who deplore the affirmation of Black values really understand that they are implicitly asserting that Blackness is anathema and must be rejected and subsumed into a culture that is unwilling to fully assimilate Black folks even when they try."
They may not be able to explain their disdain for black folks in the way that you describe but they are aware that they do not like black folks. The expression of their feelings may lie closer to the children's nursery rhyme that goes:
"I do not like thee, Dr. Fell.
Why that is I cannot tell.
But this I know and know full well,
I do not like thee, Dr. Fell."
But, yeah, they know.
Sounds like the caller...
...is really in the market for debt peons. I mean, a staggering national debt and the imminent fiscal collapse of state governments, and this caller is convinced that what we need is more tax cuts... and he's terrified of "socialized medicine" that would provide better health outcomes at half the cost. He's worried abou open borders, and the GOP he's so excited about is determined to create guest worker programs while throwing a sop to the Lou Dobbs fan club with a fugitive peon act. I have this picture in my head of a business man who's barely making it, even while cheating on his taxes and employing undocumented laborers at $6 per day. He thinks the guys in his truck bed are getting uppity.
These pathetic "libertarians" are always afraid of going bankrupt and declassé, falling from the ranks of "entrepreneurs." So they become more vociferous than Jeffrey Rogers Hummel with their "us bourgeois are so put upon" nonsense.
