Public High Schools -

Public High Schools -

A major part of the insanity over, under and all around this issue is the failure of the educational establishment and lawmakers to admit that many young people are simply not interested in pursuing an academic program. They are bored out of their minds! There is no reason why we can't begin to identify 14 and 15 year olds who would prefer to pursue a trade or some other vocation and begin training them so that at the age of 17 or 18 they can go to work and support themselves.

This will never work, by the way, if we don't make sure that when these young people are in elementary school they learn how to read, write and calculate, i.e., be able to do arithmetic and some mathematics. We cannot afford to lose public education in this country because of the failure of the educational establishment to face reality. We are destroying the lives of tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of young people by not accommodating those students who want to pursue academics and those who do not. We are trying to press all of our children into one size mold and it is not working.

Obama should not drop out.

Obama should not drop out. There is no guarantee that he will be viewed as the titular head of the Democratic Party if he should allow Clinton to have the nomination. Right now is his time. Win, lose or draw.
