R. Kelly finally will have his day in court, nearly six years after first being indicted on child pornography charges.

The R&B superstar, 41, is accused of videotaping himself engaging in sex acts with a girl prosecutors say could be as young as 13. He has pleaded not guilty.

Kelly's defense team hopes the judge will delay the proceedings based on their contention that recent news coverage has made it impossible for the singer to have a fair trial. In a sealed motion filed Wednesday, Kelly's attorneys cite weekend stories describing closed-door hearings in which Cook County Judge Vincent Gaughan ruled a woman could testify to having had a three-way sexual encounter with Kelly and the alleged victim in the video tape.

The judge gave prosecutors until Friday morning to respond. On Thursday, however, Gaughan made several references to the trial moving forward. He also mentioned his busy calendar for the next few weeks to attorneys involved in other cases. "We're starting a pretty big trial [Friday]," he said.

Please god please

Throw that sumbitch in jail!

WHY tell me WHY has this taken 6 years to get to trial? I guess that's the value of being rich.

I didn't think he'd ever go

I didn't think he'd ever go to trial. This witness that says she was in a threesome with Arrah and the child was likely the tipping point. A friend has the tape and based on that alone he could have gotten off.

This pedophile needs to be in jail ALREADY

Put him UNDER the jail.
