They must be really bothered by Scott McClelland's verification of all we've been warning you about. They got Ari Fleischer, the best White House obfuscation agent in living memory, to counter it in the Washington Post.
Fleischer's point is that the press did asked the tough questions, that they weren't the passive (and in some cases, active) enablers of the invasion and the spin that justified it. To prove it he pulled out some old transcripts to tell you what those questions were.
Best of all, he skillfully neglects to tell you what the ANSWERS to those questions were. Because accepting those answers with no evidence, publishing those answers over and over again was a large part of the enablement effort.

I know that you know this already but the press did a lot more than downplayed any challengers to the accepted meme. They refused to grant them any air time or mention in any daily news publications. The opposition was flat out denied a place at the table.
