This weekend on ThisWeek, Jonathan Capehart put the thought in some folks' head that Black people waited for permission to vote for Obama.
You know, we were supposed to follow our elected representatives to Clinton. And we voted for The Black Guy, like we always do, right? You folks that have been pretty much devoted to Obama's campaign, you drank the kool-aid. And now we all waited for permission from white people to vote for Obama.
You know what all those narratives have in common?
We, Black folk, are passive. We don't think.
That's not from hatred, self or otherwise. It's from a learning so deep you don't even see it anymore. So I'll spell it out. It is NOT to our advantage to let that myth live. If you read here you read other blogs too, and you've seen the discussion. Supporting, and in some cases not supporting, Obama was an active choice. That fact upsets the political apple cart more than Obama's candidacy, in my opinion.
Always remember, any statement can be made in the passive mode. This permission nonsense has less value than the Bush administration's favorite construction: "Mistakes were made."
So let it go. You know the truth.

Jonathan Capehart is a sorry
Jonathan Capehart is a sorry excuse for a black man. I really try to refrain from personal attacks but that brother is sorry. Sorry.
I don't call him the horn-rimmed Handkerchief Head 4 nothing
Cause that's what he is.
Why is it surprising that Black folk have moved beyond the symbolic vote?
That they were waiting to see if Obama was VIABLE and Black. And, the only way to see that, would be to answer the question:
WOULD WHITE PEOPLE VOTE FOR HIM.
They got their answer in Iowa and New Hampshire.
And, so did a lot of White people on the fence.
but, Capehart's a Handkerchief Head.
Jonathan Capehart
Well, after watching Jonathan Capehart's lackluster performances on the cable news programs I began wondering when, if ever, he would step up and take a shot for the folks; say something that wasn't bland, inoffensive or non-threatening. Apparently he took his best shot today in the Washington Post. His target was Sam Nunn and the military's weird don't ask, don't tell policy. He did manage to work in a few good words about Br. Bill and Sr. Hillary.
Kneegrows!
