All respect and no restraint

How many of these types of errors does a guy get to make?

His Running Mate Better Be Prepared

My mom and I swear he might not make it to November. He looks like he's about to croak. I'm not sure what he was thinking. I picked up on Ronald Reagan's illness long before folks owned up to it ... I'm not looking for 4 years of senility.

He's the White Guy. He'll get as many errors as he

wants, and you know that. If  this were Obama, they'd have a Youtube Web Page set up on all of his ' gaffes', and every news organization would be linking to it, and it would be proof of his ' inexperience'.

Double trouble.

"He's the white guy."

Even worse, rik. He's white and Republican. He not only gets to make errors, but when he makes them, he has a whole chorus of supporters who will swear that what he said is the truth!

If Obama was white, McCain

If Obama was white, McCain wouldn't have chance in hell.  Plain and simple.

(No subject)

He's white, male,

He's white, male, Republican, and a war "hero."

I don't know why they let him off so easily. Obama wouldn't have made it out of the press conference if he had made the same mistake.

And what's the whole "Carter's 2nd term" chuckle about? I thought it was lame because I didn't really get it. Not to mention Carter was around 30years ago.

I think McCain's days of

I think McCain's days of getting a lot of slide action for his gaffes are about to disappear. Yesterday, I was watching two guys on MSNBC who were talking about McCain's latest denial of something he had in fact said. The MSNBC crew said that McCain and other politicians can't get away with this stuff anymore because of YouTube, cell phones with video cameras etc.

C'mon. This is a small,

C'mon. This is a small, widely-known detail. I don't believe that McCain actually thinks Putin is the President of Germany. Let's get him on the gaffes of substance, like when he said that Patreaus didn't need an armored unit to get around Bagdad, or when he said that Iran was training Al-queda. These latter are statements that rest on a deep foundation of flawed reasoning, and incorrect assumptions.

"Putin is president of Germany" is a simple word error, IMO. And Obama has some similar errors, like when he misspoke the name of the concentration camp his grandfather helped to liberate. I don't have a problem with tit-for-tat gaffe-hounding by the campaigns, but I can't believe we are giving weight to these petty ones.

"Putin is president of

"Putin is president of Germany" is a simple word error

I get your drift, Keto, but this is not a simple word error. It could be interpreted as such if he had immediately corrected himself. Obama's statement was just the sort of mistake all of us, including McCain, might make in normal discourse. It may not be that important but it is something that a Senator who is a candidate for POTUS should not make. If he had said that Putin was the president of the Soviet Union, I might cut him some slack. BTW, Putin is no longer the president of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev is now.

I give weight to a pattern

I give weight to a pattern of those small ones. I've watched the onset of dementia. Itlooks like a kind of fraying around the edges as it begins.

I wonder if McCain actually

I wonder if McCain actually bothers to read newspapers, magazines and journals. If he did then he would know that Putin is now the Russian premier, not the president. This should be common knowledge for a U.S. Senator; any U.S. Senator.
