Prometheus 6

All respect and no restraint

I thought I was looking forward to The Hulk

in

I will see this one on opening day.

This is like a variation on

This is like a variation on the Pixar cartoon The Incredibles. I hope its as funny as...

No. Hancock is homeless.

No. Hancock is homeless. It's as much a drama as a superhero movie can be.

Looks great!

Until you posted the preview, I thought it was about Herbie Hancock.

Duh.

The father in the

The father in the Incredibles was unemployed; got fired.

"I thought it was about

"I thought it was about Herbie Hancock."

I was listening to "Speak Like A Child" and "Maiden Voyage" earlier today. Still sublime after all these years!

it's like the incredibles in

it's like the incredibles in that it is a humorous take on the genre. but there's other stuff going on here too. i think it's going to be another magic negro movie, with charlize theron playing a prominent role.

word is that the movie has or SHOULD undergo edits because it isn't clear whether the movie is a drama, a comedy, or something else entirely.

I have to say that no matter

I have to say that no matter what genre the film is assigned to the trailers that I have seen are the first ones in years that actually made me laugh out loud. Most of the time when I see trailers for movies that are supposed to be comedies they don't even elicit a smile from me. Maybe the movie is something else entirely which would be a good thing given the crap that Hollywood turns out. A movie that stars Will Smith and Charlize Theron and if they are not getting it on would be something else.

I'm hoping for the

I'm hoping for the "something else entirely". M.A.S.H. comes to mind as a successful 'dramady'.

I agree with you, P6, but I

I agree with you, P6, but I don't think Will Smith and his advisors quite have the cajones to make a film as politically subversive as M.A.S.H. Br. Will is okay but he enjoys being a movie star too much to risk any star power capital.

Tales of the Black Freighter...

(…Time will tell, but I really get the impression ‘Hancock’ is trying encroach on ‘Watchmen’ territory!)

And, by the way P6, have you (...Or anyone, for that matter!) been keeping tabs on the progress of the upcoming ‘Watchmen’ movie?

I noticed you had it as one of your ‘must read’ books:

http://www.prometheus6.org/node/9492

What do you think about ‘Tales of the Black Freighter’ being spun off as a separate animated DVD separate from the movie?

(And personally, I always considered the guy who read ‘Tales of the Black Freighter’ a central character in the book!)

I also thought that the show ‘Heroes’ ripped their central plot from season 1 from ‘Watchmen’, which is why season 2 never really went anywhere…

(…And I’ll stop there, lest I end up devolving into the ramifications and implications of Matt Murdock ‘killing’ off his twin brother Mike and the original Daredevil at the same time way back in the day!)

I'm satisfied knowing the

I'm satisfied knowing the Watchmen movie is coming.

I also thought that the show ‘Heroes’ ripped their central plot from season 1 from ‘Watchmen’,

Really? I don't see that at all.

Vegas odds...

“…Really? I don't see that at all.”

A. He’s serious and missed the whole ‘Comedian’ / Nathan Petrelli connection.
B. He’s kidding and is responding with extreme sarcasm to the obvious.

(If I was forced to place a bet in Vegas with house money, I’m going with ‘B!’)

I don’t know why, but ‘Hancock’ gives off this whole left wing Rorschach kinda vibe.

I keep thinking of when Rorschach goes into the guy’s refrigerator and pulls up his mask to eat the cold beans and you really get a sense of how much he’s been living the roll.

“Bean juice? Yea, human bean juice!” (…Something like that!)

Anyways, I hope both end up being pretty decent!

(If I was forced to place a

Pay up.

I just don't work that hard with fantasy. I'll go a deep into your storyline as you can draw me but I don't seek out a lot of corrolations.

I enjoyed Hancock. Not what I expected but no dramady/subversion It was a coming of age story in structure.

Survey says...

(…Holy crap! Good thing I’m NOT a betting man!)

Well, just call me a ‘grassy knoll’ kinda guy!

(...The ‘Comedian’ and Nathan Petrelli both stumbled upon plots that ultimately pointed to destroying what was considered an acceptable amount of ‘collateral damage’ from the planetary populace to bring about a more lasting measure of peace on earth, no?)

But thanks for the heads up on 'Hancock'! I'll have a better sense of perspective when I see it!
