Every time I see Pat Buchanan on TV, I wonder why Minister Farrakhan never got a pundit slot.
On the August 4 edition of MSNBC's Morning Joe, MSNBC political analyst Pat Buchanan praised an attack ad by Sen. John McCain's campaign that refers to Sen. Barack Obama as "The One" and claims "he has anointed himself." Buchanan said that the ad "goes right to an enormous vulnerability that Barack has created for himself with his grandiosity. I mean, his sense that 'I am the Messiah. I am the one the world has been waiting for.' " Echoing a comment he made last week, Buchanan referred to "that real question ... to be resolved -- because the issue in this campaign is Barack Obama" and said of Obama: "If he persuades Middle America he's the guy, he wins. So the real question has been, 'Who is this guy?' The question's now becoming, 'Who does this guy think he is?' ... I think that is the real question."

but,...but...there are no slaves here
so, how could that be appropriate?
Sad!
Yeah, thats right. The nerve of Barack Obama to think that he, a young Black upstart, can run for the Presidency. How arrogant of him to be confident of his ideas and ablilities. What a bunch of shit many in white America are pushing. When he reserves himself he is too weak to handle rough politics. When he hits back (as he should) he is too arrogant with the "I am the Messiah" attitude. The man can't win. The fact of the matter is that white America never could handle confident Blacks, especially confident Black men.
And, after all this time with his face in the media, with all of the debates thus far, with all of the interviews on TV and in print, if there are people who don't know who he is and what he stands for by now then these people probably have no real intention on voting for him anyway. These peolpe just need "legitimate" reasons not to vote for him so as to not seem like racist to themselves. Thats why, in my opinion, there are still ridiculous questions that he is STILL trying to disspell (e.g. is he a muslim).
This is why I think I din't think Mr. Obama's chances for the Presidency are not all that good. The people he needs to convince - the famed "white middle class" who euphamistically don't know Barack Obama - are the very same people, I think, looking for reasons not to vote for him. Make no mistake about it, they know him. They just don't want to. The sad part is that if he is to win he will need the votes from this same voting block.
Pat Buchanan worked for
Pat Buchanan worked for Nixon. And remains proud of the Nixon administration. Shouldn't that alone disqualify him as an "expert" on politics?
You're right, P6. The only comparable balance to Pat is Farrakhan or a black person farther to the left.
Not Farrakhan. He is not on
Not Farrakhan. He is not on the left and his social agenda is too reactionary. I agree however that if Buchanan can be given air time then why not Farrakhan. What about Ishmael Reed? Or, somebody willing to push back and not worry about the consequences. Everybody else I can think of has a tendency to want to be too polite.
pundit formula
The formula is Pat B on one side and Al Sharpton representing the other. That is supposed to count as balance.
I personally voted for Al in the 2004 primary I even convinced my 87 at the time year old str8 Democratic ticket Grandfather to vote for him, the reasoning was that here in California we can afford to cast protest or statement votes.
The would never put Min. Farrakahn on the same program as slow dimwitted Pat he would chop him up and eat him alive
Right on No1kstate the hypocritical nerve to even show his face after the crooked ass Nixon regime but then again Karl Rove has a job spinning
"...but then again Karl Rove
"...but then again Karl Rove has a job spinning"
And, Bush, and his entire administration, all of whom I felt were far worst than Nixon and his crew ever was, will someday end up like Pat B - expert commentators. If Obama wins, he will have found a way to overcome the hypocrisy of a MSM that legitimizes the likes of PB, and Rove.
At this point, I can only imagine the bullshit Rove will attempt to sell the country about the Bush years during some future talking head show, in an Obama administration.
