I refuse to be the only one bugged out by this

Don't worry, I'm bugged too.

Don't worry, I'm bugged too. Made me think of something I read the other day:

"What will a new technology do?" is no more important than the question, "What will a new technology undo?" Indeed, the latter question is more important, precisely because it is asked so infrequently. - Neil Postman, Five Things We Need to Know About Technological Change, 1998

This is crazy on so many levels. What are the legal implications of declaring this thing to be "alive" since the processor is organic? Not to mention... well, I won't mention it.

Re:minds=me

Fortunately, this robot is being remotely powered by non-legal-rights-possessing rat brain cells and not by human brain cells, otherwise we might very well have to start thinking about the question you raise, Pdub.

Reminds me of the famous Daniel Dennett story/philosophical thesis: "Where am I?"

Little could Dennett have imagined, 30 years ago how close his little thought experiment is to coming true in his lifetime. Where is your God now, Dennett? :)

Beautiful story

Beautiful story; thanks for the link, xigxag.
