I think I'll take a pass. These folks are so far off the reservation that Colin Powell probably does not want to be associated with them.

She sounds pretty convincing is what she said was riddled with lies and bad ideas. Like Jesse Helms and Strom Thurmond were fair-minded. Like Sen. Byrd hasn't apologized for his KKK history. Like the anti-poverty programs were adequately funded in the first place.

And as far as "school choice," as though giving the schools much needed resources wouldn't help all students, I become skeptical when Republicans are all excited about a plan to help black folk.

This poor delusional negro seems to actually believe what she is spouting vs. the slick, opportunist, amoral, traitor, judus selling us out for a buck or a pat on the head by master like Condi, Armstrong, Ward Connerly and Clarence Thomas to name a select few. She needs institutional mental help vs. summary execution for the nationwide damage these other house negros have done to us as a people.

Every time I hear someone spouting the "The Party of Lincoln!!!!!" argument, I have to wonder just who it's being pitched to. Blacks? Or whites? Are these people really, sincerely, trying to push this crap to black people who know exactly why they don't vote for Republicans?

Sometimes I have a hard time believing that there are Blacks like this living, until I see this.

This lady (a Sarasota, Florida native) is getting a lot of press coverage down here. I think the headquarters for her organization is in Sarasota.

I will admit that I don’t know as much as I should about pre-WWII U.S. history. But how hard would it be to reconstruct a reconstruction era Republican platform contract for America style? :

“If you’re going to cite this history which part of this platform are you still willing to co-sign?”

“Do you agree with the anti-states rights, strong federal government federalist arguments of the 19th Century Republicans?”

“Would you support funding government funding for more programs similar to The Freedmen’s Bureau’s social programs?”

“Do you support the the push for fully taxpayer funded universal public education?”

“Do you think that the US government should put a priority on investing in large scale publicly funded transportation projects like the Trans-Continental railways?”

“Do you agree with the church/state separation arguments that were the basis of 19th Century Republicans logic for why the state could end Mormon Polygamy?”

“Do you agree with their position that the states view on meaning of marriage should be privileged over religious definitions of marriage?”

“Do you back the recommendations of the Joint Committee on Reconstruction to give DC citizens full voting rights?”

If you are going to cite Republican party's historical base in this platform, you should be able to answer yes to all these things. Or at least five out of seven.

Someone who knows more about the history should be able to do a better job than that.

The only black person to run for governor in the State of Michigan with the endorsment of a major political part was Bill Lucas. He ran as a Republican. Blacks in the city of Detroit voted against him and for the democrat Jim Blanchard. Mr. Blanchard won the election. I voted for Mr. Lucas even though in other elections I had voted for Mr. Blanchard. Mr. Blanchard had promised to continue social programs that sent money to Detroit. The Republicans thought that some of these programs were little more than payoffs for votes and eliminated some of them when they came to power under Governor John Engler.
The fiction that the democratic party is the party of civil rights seems to be alive and well here. LBJ got the civil rights legislation passed only because the Republicans lined up behind him and pushed it through over the strenous objections of the southern democrats. The idea that your a traitor to "blackness" if you vote for a republican is wrong.

Anyone that expects pre-Nixon actions of the Republican Party to make me think well of the post Southern Strategy Republican party is just silly.

You are extremely confused about why an overwhelming majority of the black electorate supports Democrats.

Reframed: If black democrats will not vote for a black republican because he is a republican, why are white republicans and conservatives racists if they will not vote for a black democrat? The only racists that could cost Mr Obama the election are by default democrats.
