All respect and no restraint

Once again I disagree with Paul Krugman

Everyone agrees that something major must be done. But Mr. Paulson is demanding extraordinary power for himself — and for his successor — to deploy taxpayers’ money on behalf of a plan that, as far as I can see, doesn’t make sense.

I don't even see a plan. Just a demand for extraordinary power.

That's not to say there's no plan, just that if there is, it's not being revealed to us mere mortals that will pay for it. And my gut really does lean me toward wondering what the USofA would look like under the direction of the World Bank, the IMF and such. If our financial system collapsed, how could we refuse to operate under the conditions we impose on others whose financial system collapsed...or was even just incompatible with ours...without repudiating the entire global financial system we've built?

That's what I think is the threat to our lifestyle Rep. Boehner mentioned on ThisWeek.

Thing is, if you explained how that all works, you might find the majority of Americans wouldn't care.
