I would really like to see John McCain take Kristol's advice to fire his whole campaign staff.
It’s time for John McCain to fire his campaign.
He has nothing to lose. His campaign is totally overmatched by Obama’s. The Obama team is well organized, flush with resources, and the candidate and the campaign are in sync. The McCain campaign, once merely problematic, is now close to being out-and-out dysfunctional. Its combination of strategic incoherence and operational incompetence has become toxic. If the race continues over the next three weeks to be a conventional one, McCain is doomed.
It would be the ultimate flip flop. The ultimate unstable act. All the crazies that so love Palin would bail on them so fast the multiple sonic booms would shatter all the windows in Appalachia.
I am obviously as anti-Kristol as I am anti-Republican philosophy. I feel he's served the role of useful idiot admirably, but eee-GAD he's become a useless filler of column inches. There's GOT to be someone who can do that intelligently.
