Israeli Airstrikes Across Gaza Target Hamas Police
By TAGHREED EL-KHODARY and ISABEL KERSHNER

Though Israel had been threatening to end its policy of restraint that saw only limited strikes against rocket launchers and squads in recent days, the timing of the raid came as a surprise to Gazans. It came in mid-morning, when official buildings and security compounds were filled with personnel and children were at school, and not, as many had anticipated, at night....

In a statement issued immediately after the raid, the Israeli military warned that “This operation will be continued, expanded and intensified as much as will be required.”

At Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, scores of dead bodies were laid out in front of the morgue waiting for family members to identify them. Many were dismembered.

I think it's time to re-read The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy.

Consistency

Strange the Israeli's attack military targets and get slammed for it (the civilian casualties are not to be forgotten but Hamas builds their bases in civilian areas for just this reason) Hamas throws missiles indiscriminately into Israeli towns and there is no condemnation. I am not pro either side, both have points in their favor, but I am afraid that I will always side with the ones that at least try to act in a civilized way. Interesting that the Koran had definite guidelines for warfare, and that precluded attacking non combatants, including woman and children, but look who gets it in most of the attacks! Most ridiculous part is that they both fight for their God which is the exact same one!!!!! But who says sense is common

Blind is Blind

Looked at the blogs and the ones that make sense are evident.  The direct to 911missing links is obviously, to me, propaganda / false & misleading based on one basic and self evident truth.  Killers are killers and the people without peace in their hearts keep looking for a way to kill without repercussion.  Hamas is not only starting something they are not equipped to finish successfully - they are playing the poor me to pull others, like Egypt, into their death game.

I'm sure you've heard the prhase "First Blood" before.  Well it doesn't take a genius to recognize that Hamas is drawing first blood and Israel is rightfully so getting sick and tired of accepting the death of their citizens as a way of life because a group called Hamas thinks the rest of the world should accept an occassional rocket attack as business as ususal.

No, can't approve of anyone drawing first blood and if they are big enough to start something  then the rest of the world should leave them (Hamas) to their own design.  And, in this case Egypt should stay out of the war. Specifically Egypt should not provide a place for Hamas militants to retreat to.  Yes, allow the women and children in but the men who think they are so big and bad should be left to face the reality they they have created...

Regardless of the group involved - attacking is wrong - self defense is right.

Whatever. The end result is,

Whatever.

The end result is, the Arab/Israeli conflict is as big a mess as it is at the beginning of every President's administration for the last god knows how long. I'm at the point where I want the US to withdraw entirely and let them work it out for themselves. I guarantee you the behavior on both sides would change radically.

Israel attacks Gaza

Gaza is the world´s largest concentration camp, brutally ruled by the Jewish State using US financed and produced weapons.  From time to time the inmates get a bit unruly and have to be killed by the Israelis.  US tax dollars at work.  Meanwhile, US infrastructure rots and hatred against the US multiplies.

The Palestine charter calls

The Palestine charter calls for "the destruction of Israel by any means & the annihilation of all Jews in Palestine."

So Hamas plays war.
So Israel plays war.
So Hamas die.
So arabs now whine like little girls.

Israel must be succeeding. Hamas leaders are again hiding under beds while their 5th columnists spread their now stale propoganda.

Poor Israel

Let’s see... Israel 1 dead settler vs. 240 dead Palestinians including women and children.

Abject poverty, starvation, bombed out power plant and no functioning hospitals vs. U.S tax subsidized planes, missiles and tanks... clear cut case of poor oppressed Israel

My standard response now:

I think it's time to re-read "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy."

Rather than write a long comment, I have a short essay on this to link to:

Zionism and US Foreign Policy

There is a theory in

There is a theory in circulation, to the effect that United States foreign policy towards the Middle East is shaped, or dictated, by a cabal of Jews. This theory argues that Jews living in the USA have acquired awesome power to make the US media and government do its bidding, all to the greater glory of Israel; I propose to call this the Zionist Control Hypothesis (ZCH). The theory has many different shades of "strength," with Mearsheimer & Walt's version actually constituting one of the "weaker" forms. Since the authors of "The Israel Lobby" are fairly prominent scholars, their article has attracted a great deal of attention.

Do you think one must believe a cabal of Jews dictates American foreign policy toward the Middle East to conclude our absolute, automatic, irreversible commitment to support Israel regardless of what they do needs to be reconsidered?

Absolutely

Middle East foreign policy is shaped by a powerful Zionist lobby, Although they wield influence other aspects of the U.S. their focus is specific to their agenda,  in the same way that big Pharma, Big oil, Tobacco etc etc control U.S. policy in their respective industries. If you have a lot of money you can "buy" your specific policy to the detriment of the citizens and the world. That's been proven

What the the Zionist get specifically with their purchase, is political clout in the form of a security council veto, thus effectively neutralizing international pressure, capital to strengthen their infrastructure and subsidize developing global competitive industries, free bleeding edge military technology to keep them dominate and media ability to shape the narrative as "poor little me" when it's actually the opposite and most important in regards to the media...to eliminate truthful reporting of what is actually occurring on the ground ..i.e. suppression of evidence regarding crimes against humanity.

This holds the world hostage to eternal conflict and increased terrorism. The U.S. population has no idea how hypocritical they look to the rest of the world. White people are mortified when someone says the "chickens have come home to roost" which isn't surprising because they still don't think slavery was that bad.

Do you think one must

Do you think one must believe a cabal of Jews dictates American foreign policy toward the Middle East to conclude our absolute, automatic, irreversible commitment to support Israel regardless of what they do needs to be reconsidered?

No, no, no! Mearsheimer & Walt do. I'm the one denying any such thing.

 Mearsheimer & Walt

 Mearsheimer & Walt do.

Are you sure, James? I don't get that from them.

I was a bit extreme

JRM: Mearsheimer & Walt do.

PTC: Are you sure, James? I don't get that from them.

I was a bit extreme, since M&W are actually referring to a nebulous "Israel lobby," not a cabal of Jews.  It's the result of several paraphrases.  But the idea of the M&W paper is that support for Israel policy is bad for the USA (true) therefore some Israel lobby must be inducing the US to support Israeli policy (IMO, false).  The US government has lots of racist policies that disserve the population of the nation as a whole.  Also, I think the Israel lobby is actually much more fragmented and reactive than M&W do.

BTW

This is my week for getting banned.  I think Alas a blog banned me for pro-Palestinian comments (I can't think of any other reason why they would have been banned).  Another blog banned me for very obvious reasons (I referred to the blogger as a "putative man of the cloth" because he was lying about the contents of the bible).

Alas a blog is pretty good but I think they tend to be excessively concerned about even subtle criticism of the prevailing Gemeinshaftgeist.

Though I will make people

Though I will make people live with the repercussions of their own decisions, the number of people I've actually banned is startlingly low. Two, I think.

Alas a blog is pretty

Alas a blog is pretty good...

Not if the owner(s) banned you. No way.
