This doesn't make sense when you consider Cheney's affuence AND Blackwater connex.  He can afford a private army, so why should we extend his security detail? 

First you go on a speaking tour excoriating an individual, and then you turn around and ask that individual to provide you protection for the enemies you made while excoriating that individual.  Now that's gangsta'!  Somehow I get this image of Cheney sleeping in a cave while hanging upside down, or, better still, somewhere in a coffin protected by the soil from his native Transylvania.

as much as i dislike and despise dick cheney, the only reason he may need a security detail is because he was in public office.  i don't think that should be taken away while there are real concerns about his safety if it has to do with his stint as VP.  i think he should be in jail, but until that wonderful day arrives, he should not be put in any real danger if such exists due to having been a (gag) public servant.

It makes a lot of sense to keep the former VP safe from anything that could possibly be linked to indifference or negligence on Obama's part.

So, even though the guy Cheney shot still has pellets in his head it's a wise expenditure of taxpayer funds to make sure the same doesn't happen to him. Let Eric Holder go after him instead!

Cheapest way to guard him is to put him in jail anyway.
