All respect and no restraint

Anyone who objects to that is obviously anti-American

“This is the guy who announced a program topic suggesting that Cynthia McKinney be lynched on her way to the polls to vote in 2006 and published her campaign office address on the website. He asked how she would look swinging at the end of a rope and what message it would send to other ‘uppity’ Blacks. I called NJ Homeland Security and FBI at the time …. The FBI agent I spoke to said, ‘We know all about Mr. Turner.’ Looks like they did.”

Lynching of Cynthia McKinney urged by ‘journalist’ trained and paid by FBI
Hal Turner called her ‘a violent, black, racist, bitch’ whose lynching would teach other Blacks that ‘white people are tired of your bullshit, behave or die’
by David Swanson

Former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney sent an email around on Sunday in which she wrote:

“[I]t has just now come to my attention that a ‘journalist’ who suggested that I be lynched was actually being paid by our own government to say that. Now, when I reported it to the FBI, how in the world was I to know that he was at that time on the FBI’s payroll?”

“Hate blogger” Hal Turner’s lawyer said last week, and prosecutors agreed, that Turner was “trained by the FBI on how to be deliberately provocative” and “worked for the FBI from 2002 to 2007 as an ‘agent provocateur’ and was taught by the agency ‘what he could say that wouldn’t be crossing the line.’”

Turner is being charged with making death threats against Connecticut legislators and Illinois judges and is apparently going to claim that his actions were legal because he did the same sort of thing when employed by the FBI. In an Associated Press story published Aug. 18, Katie Nelson writes:

“Prosecutors have acknowledged that Turner was an informant who spied on radical right-wing organizations, but the defense has said Turner was not working for the FBI when he allegedly made threats against Connecticut legislators and wrote that three federal judges in Illinois deserved to die.

“‘But if you compare anything that he did say when he was operating, there was no difference. No difference whatsoever,’ [his lawyer] said.”

This story has also been written up by Wired and by The Southern Poverty Law Center, but without the McKinney angle.

McKinney wrote in her email: “Interesting that charges stem from his comments against Connecticut lawmakers and Illinois judges, but not from the threat made against me, a sitting Member of Congress at the time!” And apparently the threat against McKinney was made when Turner admits to having been on the FBI payroll.

Yes and no. Police agents of the federal government were involved in activities of this sort before Bobby Seale and Huey Newton were born. The FBI's involvement and cooperation with members of the Ku Klux Klan, for example, long precedes the creation of the Cointel Program. (Viola Fauver Gregg Liuzzo (April 11, 1925March 25, 1965) was a civil rights activist from the U.S. state of Michigan and mother of five, who was murdered by Ku Klux Klan members after the 1965 Selma to Montgomery marches in Alabama. One of the Klansmen in the car from which the shots were fired was a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) informant.[1])

I don't think the FBI existed at the time of Garvey's troubles but agents of the federal government played a role in bringing him down. Garvey's own hubris didn't do much to make it hard for them either.

Lynching of Cynthia McKinney urged by 'journalist' trained and

According to this article: Hal Turner worked for the FBI as an ‘agent provocateur’ to basically publish information that might cause other parties to act in a manner which would lead to their arrest.

One must wonder, how many other FBI ‘agent provocateurs’ at this moment might be agitating Muslims, right-wing extremists and others to commit serious crimes against Americans.

When FBI ‘agent provocateur’ Hal turner allegedly mentioned lynching Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, wasn't it foreseeable to the FBI that might cause an extremist to harm Cynthia in some manner? The FBI's distribution of hate information through an "Agent Provocateur", is a method used by terrorists to motivate "lone wolfs" and members of leaderless groups to commit crimes that could include murder? Were the alleged actions of FBI ‘agent provocateur’ Hal Turner regarding Cynthia McKinney, representative of FBI policy, to intimidate or coerce Black and other civilian populations: or the work of a shadow government operating with its own agenda? Americans deserve an answer to that question.

Ironically the FBI/U.S. Justice after targeting Cynthia McKinney, in 2007 supported several pieces of anti-terrorist legislation to protect Americans from the same criminal acts, the FBI appears to have promoted using Hal Turner, e.g., see SB 1959 “The Prevention of Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Act”; referred to by Americans, as the “Thought Crime Bill.”

After revelations of an FBI Agent Provocateur targeting Cynthia McKinney, one can’t help recall the FBI’s investigative role in the 1993 Bombing of the World Trade Center: it was reported an FBI informant used a taping device provided by the FBI to also tape the FBI: recordings that allegedly revealed the informant urging the FBI to prevent the bombing of the World Trade Center in 1993. One reference: see Los Angles Times article on 10/28/93 address this issue.

Government informants are out of control: Congress needs to pass legislation that provides stronger oversight of government informants. It appears obvious there is little or no prudent oversight of informants by police and government agencies. And too frequently informants lie to please their handlers.
