Mayor Mends Fences After Slim Victory
By MICHAEL BARBARO and DAVID W. CHEN
Michael R. Bloomberg, stung by an election outcome that revealed resentment over his undoing of the term limits law and his extravagant campaign spending, moved quickly Wednesday to strike a conciliatory tone as he reached out to the Democratic establishment that backed his opponent in the mayor’s race.
As aides worried that the narrow win — by a margin of less than 5 percent — would embolden previously cowed lawmakers, the mayor made clear in meetings and telephone calls with Democratic leaders that he understood that the roughness of his campaign had upset some people.
Fat chance over here, pal...

You didn't need Giuliani to talk to that crowd. Sitting there, wearing a shit-eating grin while ya boy goes on his Southern Strategy rant
The guy who got gave Bernie Kerik, a goddamn driver, the position of Police Commissioner and damn near had him in nominal charge of Homeland Defense...
THIS Bernie Kerik...
...and you have him running a "FEAR THE NAYGURS" campaign for you. Because you're so damn rich you're bored so you want to run something big.
Nah. Not interested in your soft-pedalled explanations of your hard core actions.

The election results clearly
The election results clearly shows that there a large number of New Yorkers who shared your feelings and not just for the two reasons the Times chose to highlight.
nobody thought it would be THAT close
you were not alone in your thinking, P6
Then how did he win? Where
Then how did he win? Where were the black New Yorkers? I was hoping he'd lose myself.
He paid for it.
He paid for it.
Yeah, I get he paid people
Yeah, I get he paid people off for endorsements. But blacks and hispanics together make up a majority. What happened? Did they not vote or did they listen to their pastors?
no1kstate, I think it was apathy
1. nobody believed it was close.
2. the Brother was completely underfunded, and couldn't remotely build any serious organization
3. he had counted on the 'informal' organization of the Black Church to be behind him and help him, and we see where that got him.
4. I suppose there were a lotta folks who woke up Wednesday morning and went, ' if I had known it was THAT close, I woulda voted'.
