A Work Progress Administration? Labor rules that discourage firings? Financial incentives to reduce layoffs? Job-sharing subsidies? Man, if only the free-marketers and ultra capitalist would just stay the fuck out the way. (Now that's a real pipe dream.)

Right now, workers who lose their jobs aren’t moving to the jobs of the future; they’re entering the ranks of the unemployed and staying there.

This is what defenders of outsourcing have an incapability of empathizing with. Now, I'm no economist but I think the decades of oursourcing for expedient profits has been a slow deathblow to this nation. True, wallstreet and the housing market sparked this simi-depression but whats sustaining it is America's weak manufacturing ability. And the most frustrating thing (to me at least) is that this point seems to be getting glossed over nationally. I just get the feeling that America sooner or later will have to face a true reckoning for its greed proclivities. So no Paul Krugman, I don't think America will try something different. It is way too drunk on it's own dogma of capitalism and free-markets to do better for its own good.
