The Dawn

early light on the horizon
casts golden beauty into my heart
and gives way to morning
which illuminates a barren desert
and heats the world until nothing can live

i live, i search
for the oasis that holds life
or just a drink of water
that I may survive till sunset
and draw courage to face the desert once more
