Heading out on the bus yesterday I overheard a discussion between two women who recognized each other as one was getting off the bus:

Woman 1: Happy holidays. How's the family?

Woman 2: Okay. My son just came home for five days.

Woman 1: Oh! He's back for Christmas?

Woman 2: No, he's been home and gone back to Iraq already.

Woman 1: How's he doing? Is he okay?

Woman 2: (touches her temple) Not here. But he's okay.
