Until very recently, I neurotically resisted this at my own site. Big mistake. My list of past archives is, from the point of view of anyone curious, a total crap shoot. How can any researcher decide if this or that post is relevant to her research?

What you sacrifice in opportunities for wit is more than offset by the enduring value of your archives (Oh, crap, that sounds like the name of a military action: "Operating Enduring Value").

Well, I already have over 10,200 posts in that condition. One doesn't start this sort of thing expecting to become a reference.

A lot of the old posts have fallen off Google...my weekly archive module, which was also an undercover SEO effort, generated blank pages for a while until I adjusted the memory use limits on the server. Sadly, I didn't notice for a while.

I find rectangular legends sufficient. The important thing is to correctly identify what color represents which trend. 

I'm not sure I like the idea of being a legend. Black legends get shot.
